Good reputation and solid business, but below average compensation and bad management (in certain departments) - Vice President BlackRock Employee Review

Pros

- BlackRock's diversified business model provides stability and a wide range of opportunities for career development (however, only if you build a strong network and have luck an opening becomes available). - Reputation is good to have on CV - probably because some bright people are working there and exposure give you chance to learn a lot. - Work life balance is good (dependent on department).

Cons

- Salaries are way below average (for top performers), and hardly increase, not even based on outstanding performance. - Bonuses at VP level are peanuts compared to other companies, particularly hedge funds. - Culture in certain departments is extremely political; senior management totally incompetent managing and developing talent. - Promotions completely inconsistent across departments. Top performers may not be promoted in one department after sustained contributions, while other departments promote average performers after just a year at the firm. Senior management apparently think employees don't notice these things...

Pros

Surrounded by top talent, Lots of opportunities for career growth

Cons

Large organization, so decision-making and processes can sometimes move more slowly than in smaller firms.

Pros

Plenty of opportunity to work on project teams. Lots of exposure to senior leaders in HR and the businesses. Great collaboration in the One BlackRock spirit. Benefits to support employees and their families are good.

Cons

Workload can be challenging at times. However, you are gaining a lot of new skills in a short prior of time and the ability to work with leaders is worth it.
