Pros

Tech - Top of the range tech and working environment. mechanically operated desks that rise to allow you to stand, huge widescreen monitors, latest laptops & machines. - Always striving to work on the latest tech. - Video conferencing is an everyday occurrence and the tech to allow that is extremely good and available in abundance. Working Environment - Relaxed and designed ergonomically to be pleasing with great breakout spaces. Great benefits - Private healthcare options, life insurance, gym, canteen/cafe serving amazing food. Games room (table tennis, pool, table football), Music room with drums, guitars etc. - Strong emphasis on ensuring fun remains in the workplace - its one of the company values. - Flexible working where necessary Progression - Amazing progression with performance management practices designed to ensure you succeed. Strong emphasis on company values and imperatives that guide the company and are used as a backbone to which a majority of decisions are made. There is a feeling that you're always working with the best in the industry and to be frank, you pretty much are.

Cons

- Lack of parking - Financial industry ensures that simple tasks are wrapped in process - be prepared for that!

Pros

Capital One is a tech-first company. Most of the latest tech skills, tools, and practices are implemented. Most teams have interesting work where you learn and get to apply your skills.

Cons

Often, the new development work is assigned to the full-time employees. Access to many of the tools is also restricted to the FT employees

Pros

Some of the smartest individuals in their fields. The focus is always “forward” and the company is willing to adopt new tech to stay ahead for the purposes of the company’s (key word there) benefit. Great PTO and benefits.

Cons

The company’s drive to keep itself moving forward has caused it to regress in other aspects. As a leading tech company first, and leading bank second, it’s embarrassing what their stance is on hybrid and remote work. The company can easily accommodate remote options for their employees not near main offices, but chooses not to. I am relocating to a major city with no major CapOne presence and their response was “too bad, either fly up weekly or you’ll be terminated for not meeting the hybrid requirements”. It’s embarrassing because most of my week is remote anyways. I wonder how many current and past employees have been impacted, and I’m worried about how much talent they’ll be pushing away in the coming years.
