Pros

Work/Life Balance (Dependent upon the group but I lucked out the last 2 years there) Career development opportunities (You have to chase it - it won't be handed to you)

Cons

Lay-Offs rampant for the past few years making it an uncertain/stressful environment Internal mobility is very challenging Bonus is VERY arbitrary and tends to be low so it's hard to determine how much you will get. Negotiate high salary at hiring There are concerning levels of misogony and bias towards women of color that will impact you especially as you move up.

Pros

Hybrid schedule, supportive managers, opportunities

Cons

Once you’re in, comp basically plateaus. Layoffs are happening across the board, which tends to be the full-time culture of citi. The vibe is very much “run lean” until something actually breaks, and only then consider adding headcount. You have to be intentional about protecting your work-life balance, because the implicit expectation is that you’re always on—24/7, 365—without the support of a properly staffed team.
