Pros

Good basic salary; decent annual bonus on top if you perform well; very good overall benefit package; flexibility to work from home regularly

Cons

Long hours culture - no matter what they say about work life balance, there is none. Long hours are simply expected. Plus you’ll have at least enough work for 2 very high performing employees to do, plus they’ll keep adding to your responsibilities, so working long hours is the only way to even try and survive it. That sadly has the result of reducing the overall value of your package. But they pay enough that looking to move to another NI based company realistically means taking a bit of a pay cut. So people get trapped on the eternal Citi hamster wheel.

Pros

Hybrid schedule, supportive managers, opportunities

Cons

Once you’re in, comp basically plateaus. Layoffs are happening across the board, which tends to be the full-time culture of citi. The vibe is very much “run lean” until something actually breaks, and only then consider adding headcount. You have to be intentional about protecting your work-life balance, because the implicit expectation is that you’re always on—24/7, 365—without the support of a properly staffed team.
