Pros

The salary is decent, and the benefits are acceptable (for existing employees, anyway). New employees won't receive the same PTO benefits.

Cons

Because of the large offshore component (owned by a company based in India), calls are frequently scheduled for 6 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. It's also an incredibly meeting-heavy culture, with daily check-in meetings on projects with 30 participants, when smaller meetings and/or emails would be a better use of time. There are many days where you take a call at home at 6 a.m., drive to the office, work a 10-hour day, come home, and then have to get back on a call in the late evening. Workload is constantly heavy, making it hard to take time off. Between the workload and the schedule, there's no life balance.

Pros

Cognizant can be a great place to work at. You have to be self-motivated and driven. You won't often be given a script on how to do your job well. But if you are willing to search for new opportunities, you will find success.

Cons

Just like many other tech companies, layoffs are happening all the time. This often brings many projects to a complete halt. Management never communicates when someone is laid off. And when they are laid off, they often never back fill positions, leaving existing team members working the equivalent of three jobs at once. Most teams there are skeleton crews, ensuring that they cannot reach their full potential.
