Pros
I was almost scared away from taking a position with DISH because of the things I read on Glass Door. I'm so glad I decided to see for myself. I am guessing the poor reviews are not from folks working in the corporate office. My experience here has been amazing and I cannot say enough good things about the company. Compensation is generous, and benefits are very good.Expectations are reasonable and you will work on assignments that are probably beyond your pay grade. This is a really really good thing. You will have fantastic exposure to senior executives, and you will gain tremendous experience. The corporate office has a great energy. I love being surrounded by people who are extremely smart and extremely driven. Everyone works very hard. It is also a very fun work environment. I came from a stuffy corporate finance type of position, so to be in a more relaxed, creative environment has been really fantastic. I've been here almost one year and the work events we have had have also been amazing. We had a huge employee summer BBQ and concert and there is another employee-appreciation event this week. The ATM (All Team Meetings) are also pretty cool. I feel like there is a lot of transparency within the company and the CEO gives everyone updates and takes questions from the crowd. I also feel like there is a lot of room for growth at DISH. I have seen many of my co-workers receive promotions or move to different departments (on their own accord).
Cons
If you don't like structure, this probably isn't the place for you. Employees are asked to remain in the building during "core business hours" of 9 am-4 pm, with the exception of the lunch hours of 11:30-1:30. However, I have definitely left for various doctor's appts and things and it has not been a problem. It is really not as rigid as people made it sound in other reviews. Work hard, get your hours in, and your manager probably won't mind if you need to leave early on Friday or leave for an appointment.
