Pros
Great Benefits (not starting pay), Retirement plan (If you start early enough), Medical, Dental, Vision, Rx. I feel the job is pretty secure.
Cons
Starting Hourly pay doesn't compensate well for the continuous stress level. Literally every single minute of your work day is micromanaged. Management only cares about packages being picked up/delivered on time. That's it! Outdated equipment and technology. Vehicles aren't maintained well mechanically nor kept clean by the drivers. Fedex is vehemently against using technology to improve it's service, such as Garmins for drivers. Routing of pickups does not exist. It's up to the driver to figure out where to go next which can be very difficult for a new driver especially those unfamiliar with an area. Drivers are expected to use just a paper map of an area to learn the streets because Fedex Express thinks this is somehow safer than using a Garmin. Fedex's online service allows customers to print incorrect shipping labels, which then have to be reprinted by the driver. If the powerpad the driver uses knows the label is incorrect, why doesn't the online system know this same information? New drivers in larger stations have little to no chance to get vacation time when they want, even those with 5-10 years on the job as those with seniority get first pick.
