Pros
You will work with incredibly smart and driven people. The benefits are good and there is focus on wellness and resilience. The Goldman name makes it really easy to get a huge comp bump and promotion when you leave.
Cons
The work environment is incredibly intense and needlessly so. Management does not take a long view but rather jumps from one crisis to the next. Teams are short staffed which contributes to the constant need to put out fires rather than think about mitigating risk long term. In order to get a promotion, you need to play the politics game. Unfortunately there are some toxic individuals in senior leadership who will prevent anyone but their favorites from being promoted/get raises. Just doing a good job will not get you ahead -- you will need to lobby for promotions and raises.
