Pros
1. Provides Strong Identity for teams and individuals. You are not a nameless ONE in a MILLION employees. Smaller business units ensure the same 2. Strong focus on career development thru constant engagement & analysis platforms 3. In pockets, technical expertise is very STRONG 4. Independence / lack of rigid structures aid in taking higher responsibilties 5. Company rewards individuals with risk taking ability. No punishment for failure, only when people dont learn - their careers get impacted.
Cons
1. UNSTRUCTURED. Process is very weak / non-existent in pockets making productivity & efficiency very poor 2. If anyone like a structured role with a well defined and non-violatable roles & responsibilities, HCL is not the place 3. Esp in mgmt & business support cadres (across junior, middle and senior managers), time to address transactions is huge. 4. Too many middle management titles and layers. Can cut at least 4 titles.
