Pros
The overall company culture is good and welcoming by both the business development team and other architecture/engineering/planning disciplines that you work with. There is always a steady stream of proposal work so you never get bored. Team is very supportive and collaborative with consistent and constructive feedback from team leads and management. The work-life balance is well managed with a large team to spread out the work load. There seems to be room for improvement for career advancement, from PC, to Senior PC, then Team Lead? Would be helpful if there was a clear roadmap for career advancing opportunities. Arcadis integration information has been steady on a quarterly basis. Opportunities for accelerated roles under the Arcadis umbrella but looks like most of these are all for senior or management roles. Benefits are standard, PTO, sick days, work from home with option to book a desk in-office when needed or if you prefer being in-office, plus flex hours. Eligible for overtime pay.
Cons
Changes with the Arcadis integration are not clear for what opportunities are available to the Proposal career path. Industry salary is lower than other provinces, barely meets the provincial and national average. No bonuses, if there are, its not within the first year. Hours can be long depending on the deadlines/workload but you get paid OT so there's compensation at least. The IT department or whoever does procurement for the headsets you get when onboarding needs to try wearing one for a 1+ hr meeting. They are the absolute worst headsets in existence, super tight, stiff plastic framing, extremely thin ear cushions - just really painful to use for any longer than 5min. For such a large company, handing out these poor quality headsets as part of onboarding, makes the company look cheap or that they don't care.
