Pros
- The compensation package is very good - Employees are treated respectfully and humanely. There are several posts on this web site which would disagree with this statement. Maybe it depends on business unit and physical location. I've found that work schedules are flexible, work does not encroach on personal time, your opinions are solicited and respected, there is genuine support for doing volunteer work in the community, etc. - There have been layoffs, but there is plenty of warning. There is no "right" way to do layoffs. It stinks. But management gives a few months warning that layoffs are coming. On the one hand, this negatively impacts morale. But it is the most humane way to treat those who will be affected. It gives them a chance to mentally adust and start looking. - You can read a number of posts on this web site to the effect that management has "gone downhill" in the past couple of years. I think that is an unfair assessment. When you look at the crazy business environment, the relatively steady stock price is a testament to the resilience of the core businesses. - There is a big emphasis on innovation, even though the company has not "cracked the code" on how to actually bring major innovations to market
Cons
- If you are addcted to the adrenaline rush of a startup, this is probably not the best place for you. The pace is kind of plodding by comparison. - I'm in agreement with other posts, that the quality of middle management is... so-so. Try less beauracracy and meetings, more focused planning and execution.
