Pros

This would be a good role for junior marketers wanting to learn the ins and outs of hotel marketing and get some hands-on experience. Some fun activation opportunities throughout the year which again is great for juniors to gain experience on events.

Cons

Experienced marketers, particularly those who like bigger scope campaigns, and have big creative ideas for should be mindful of strict brand guidelines and shifting budgets that can limit creative freedom across social, creative, etc. Team members are expected to absorb work load from social/creative agencies with no additional pay. This can limit career progression and learnings as you get stuck into a repetitive cycle. Management and HR will also prioritise safeguarding senior members of the team while junior team members are considered more disposable (just the nature of the business and the corporate world). This does not apply to all senior team members, however there is a micro management problem that refuses to be addressed. If these instances experience by multiple team members continue to be ignored, future employees will get a negative impression of the company and culture. It will also affect their mental health and outlook on working in the hotel marketing industry overall.

Pros

Great team environment with opportunities to learn hotel operations. The work is generally independent, management trusts employees to handle responsibilities, and the employee travel discounts are an excellent benefit.

Cons

Overnight shifts can be challenging, staffing can occasionally be limited, and balancing guest service with audit responsibilities during busy nights can become stressful.
