Is a Risk Management Adjacent Role - Risk Reporting Analyst Morgan Stanley Employee Review

Pros

Work-life balance is genuinely solid — most days wrap up between 8:30 AM and 6 PM, which is hard to come by in finance. You'll also build real technical skills in SQL, Excel, and PowerPoint that are transferable anywhere. On top of that, the role gives you broad exposure across many different areas of the firm, which helps you understand the bigger picture early on.

Cons

A lot of the day-to-day work is tedious and repetitive, and there isn't much of a clear path for career growth within the reporting function. There's also a cultural dynamic worth knowing about — because reporting sits in a support role within the chain of command, some risk managers can treat the team as lower-status, which affects the work environment. Teams tend to run lean, so when things get busy, the workload can pile up fast with no real relief valve. And perhaps most importantly, your experience here will depend heavily on your manager — a poor fit can make the work feel thankless or make you genuinely dread coming in.

Pros

Very good co-workers, Great technology stack. Lot of new technologies and integration with current work.

Cons

They dont even give you a MS cup. They ask you to buy it for 5$. So cheap! Management big on "Giving back", Immediate managers do not like it and are not supportive. Lay off employees twice a year to show profits. Only worried about shareholders and clients. Don't know the criteria for lay-off. So, you are always worried if it is your turn. They boast about mental health and wellness. No good, when they layoff employees like this. HR = Horrible Resources. When you are laid off, they shoo you away as if you are a fly. You feel miserable. They themselves say - "We are better than Facebook or Oracle. We dont fire you at 6 AM over email." Gosh! What a comparison!
