Pros
I can't think of any pros. The pay is not stellar, the benefits are sub-par compare to other Big 4 banks. If you like structured work routine, then the branch sales job would be ideal for you.
Cons
- PBO/Sr PBO (now they are called Financial Advisor 4,5,6) are purely sales job at the branch. The job requires you to sell every single Scotiabank products to all customers. There are times I sold products that the customers do not need but I did it because I need to hit my target. - With the current SRD structure, more un-necessary products will be offered to customers for the sake of meeting personal target. - Favouritism is huge in the retail branch level. A lot of people who are qualified for the job do not get the promotion because majority of the time, the position is already hand picked by the hiring manager or district VP. - If you try to apply for a job posting outside the branch world (ie: Corporate head office), it is not impossible but very hard. It would be easier to get the job as a non-Scotiabank employee than current employee.
