Pros
I have met many good people working as simple designers, not managers. Unfortunately, they usually don't stay long.
Cons
In the place where I worked the managers were not very interested in the result, rather than playing political games with employees, guided by their personal likes/dislikes. Fortunately, in my case after ignoring common sense on a couple of projects, one manager was let go, and the other was able to escape moving to other branch. But the things have not changed. The new managers continued the chaos created by the previous managers. Show must go on. As a result: "Revolving Door Company".
