Pros
Depending on the leadership in a particular department or area of the country, it can be a very rewarding experience. Having had various leadership roles over a 20 year career, the early vision and culture was strong and all partners (employees) worked together as a team to support the company mission and business growth. Individuals were respected, developed and recognized for their contributions, and rewarded accordingly.
Cons
Answering to Wall Street has become the driving force, and it is the politically motivated, competitive, bottom line focused individual who is rewarded, often at the expense of their peers, direct reports and the culture the company "says" it holds dear. This is not unlike many large public companies, just be aware that in many cases, they no longer "walk the talk".
