A great great first job, but not where I'd want to end up - Team Leader Target Employee Review

Pros

Target is very involved in the communities of which they are a part, and are supportive of employees' community involvement. Management is likely to increase pay, but there is not often room for real promotion.

Cons

Customers are often rude (but that's not the company's fault), hours are often stressful. LIttle room for real promotion opportunity, as jobs are often already decided before they are listed for the general population. During my nearly 6 year tenure at Target, I worked in three stores in two states (one change for college, one due to summer seasonal needs in MN) and I was amazed at the differences in management styles between the stores. Good management in a store can make or break a store and sales.

Pros

If you are looking for a job that you’ll be a part of a fun team environment, have the ability to learn all about customer “guest” service, retail operations and sales, as well as merchandising even at entry level great opportunity. for such a large corporation I have been pleasantly surprised by how tight knit teams are. applying was okay, there were multiple steps (videos, assessments) but overall not too bad)., phone call and then video questions before hiring.

Cons

Pay isn’t great, but for the market it’s fair. Moving up involves a much larger increase in responsibilities and workload relative to the pay increase.
