Pros

The Trevor Project has an amazing and important mission. However, it does not deliver. Contrary to what others said while I worked their, Trevor's salaries were comparable to other organizations. However, the insistence on placing employees in New York City -- where cost of living is much higher -- who do not need to be there creates a weird imbalance.

Cons

The management of the organization is in total disarray. Few people are held accountable. Outreach and education programs are ignored, while money is raised touting those programs. Mid- and low-level employees spend a lot of time spinning their wheels, designing policies that will never be implemented. The outward face of the organization -- especially in social media -- seems to only focus on very few issues, usually because of the pet causes of the staff member in charge. There are few opportunities for advancement and the organization makes absolutely no investment in professional development. But by far, the worst problem in the organization is the leadership. The Executive Director seems to have no vision, no passion and no empathy.

Pros

The best management and team I ever worked with doing work I appreciated with a focus on a vulnerable population.

Cons

Due to their focus being on LGBTQ youth, they are unfortunately at the mercy of trends in both politics and in philanthropy. Several rounds of layoffs happened as fewer people have maintained their conviction to protect queer youth.
