Pros
The mission of the organization is truly inspiring, and it’s one worth dedicating time and effort to. At the individual contributor level, there are incredibly talented and passionate people who genuinely care about making a difference. On many days, it feels like we are having a meaningful impact and contributing to something larger than ourselves. The sense of purpose in the work is palpable, and it’s motivating to be part of a team that shares a commitment to the cause.
Cons
The current leadership at this organization has shown a consistent inability to make sound, business-savvy decisions. Despite the company undergoing multiple rounds of layoffs in just a few years, leadership continues to make choices that lack foresight or strategic planning for long-term success. It’s clear they believe they’re making the right calls, but the results speak for themselves: a company in turmoil, with employees feeling the brunt of their poor decisions. The most glaring issue is the complete lack of communication from leadership. We have an entire department dedicated to communication, yet employees still can't get basic questions answered, especially during critical times like layoffs. The intentional secrecy and the failure to provide transparency or direct answers is incredibly frustrating. This is not how effective leaders operate in any successful organization. Instead of fostering trust, they seem to be hiding behind silence, which only increases the anxiety and frustration of the workforce. Despite being an organization focused on mental health, there is zero psychological safety for employees. It’s incredibly disheartening to be part of a company that claims to prioritize mental well-being, yet fosters an environment where employees feel afraid to speak up or express concerns. There is no support or understanding when it comes to mental health struggles, and the lack of leadership transparency only heightens stress and anxiety within the team. The leadership’s disconnect with their own values is alarming. They’ve created a set of values that, in practice, they don’t seem to uphold. Layoffs continue to happen, but there’s no accountability on the leadership's part. They’ve yet to step up and acknowledge their mistakes or take responsibility for the ongoing instability. It feels like they’re running a ship without a compass, making decisions that don’t align with the company’s stated mission or long-term goals. In summary, the biggest con of working here is the inept leadership. Their lack of business acumen, inability to communicate effectively, and total disregard for their own values is causing serious harm to both the company and its employees. The absence of accountability, along with the lack of psychological safety despite the company’s focus on mental health, makes this a very challenging place to work. It’s hard to see how this organization will thrive under this leadership.
