Pros
Good (great) people (employees and the people with whom we have daily contact). Free Y Membership. Opportunity(ies) for internal transfer/advancement (after 6 months, you can put in an application to transfer to a different job within the YMCA/the YMCA sends out internal notices for job opportunities before posting them externally). They like to hire from within (or people who know people). Family oriented.
Cons
Job requirements/expectations do not allow for evaluations to be above a score of 3 out of 5 (unless you save a life or something). Most all jobs are only part time and you have to be in a job for some years before getting to a supervisory or management level position. "Do as I say and not as I do" mentality demonstrated from most supervisors/directors. Great ideas, but rarely ever the necessary follow through to make the ideas a reality. They like to hire from within.
