Pros
Fantastic brands and unbelievable quality of individuals. Unilever is truly a place where you will find friends for life, and gain a wealth of experience across multiple categories and with great brands. Opportunities to gain cross functional experience are far greater than in most businesses.
Cons
One of the key mantras at Unilever is "putting people first," however this doesn't translate to the day to day. If you're struggling with anything in personal life, Unilever will refer you to various external support lines etc but won't actually ask/ check in with you on an individual level. Management can be too focused on progressing their own career to take the time to check in, particularly over the last 4 years where working in FMCG can be so turbulent. Very little quality mental health support which is a shame, and very difficult to have conversations with HR who are thinly spread across multiple teams/ business units. From a progression perspective, you will get prioritised if you've been on graduate schemes as they will fast track people there, even over staff who operate at a higher level/ more experienced.
