Pros

Reasonable pay and very good benefits package. The health care package is one of the best around. The company also has a good continuing education program and will pay up to 8k in approved educational expenses each year.

Cons

The work / life balance and general atmosphere used to be excellent but have degraded dramatically since the MCI merger. Employees moral has unfortunately entered the "just another number" territory. The company is still a much respected name though and it is nice to work for a Fortune 500 that has great possibilities. Hopefully the company will eventually make it back to its roots of one of the best service companies in America. The recent lay-offs have just added to employee moral issues. While many teams had demotions and lay offs, at the same time the "good ole boy system" was hiring. Since the MCI merger it's not what you do and how well you do it, but who you know and how much you go out drinking with them after work. Less than a month after the lay-offs there are promotions occurring. Sadly, politics appear to be running the company.

Pros

Compensation is competitive but you will work very hard for it. Culture is excellent and exhibited and practiced from the top down. Benefits are excellent and cost reasonable. 401k match and profit sharing. Lots of training and professional development opportunities. Can advance if you're willing to relocate.

Cons

Company is trying to transform into what it wants to be beyond a wireless carrier (cloud?, security?, telematics?, wholesaler?, etc) and is struggling with a vision, resources, and org structure to make it a reality. Several re-organizations over last few years so job security has frequently been a question. Often delayed response to competitors caused by management's concern that acting would result in not meeting Wall Street expectations. Not the "happiest" place to work because no result is ever good enough and successes aren't celebrated because the focus is always on the next weekly/monthly/quarterly goal.
