Pros
Great for work life balance, friendly colleagues, great company if you have a family. You have to be proactive in achieving work life balance. Great opportunity to learn if you are new to the industry. Benefits package is good.
Cons
Not for those who are career focused. Promotions are subjective with no clear guidelines. You have to have served your time before you'll see a promotion. In addition you need to be friendly with senior staff. Work becomes boring and repetitive after awhile. Not very challenging after awhile. Pay is not competitive either. Given the way people are promoted you could end up with a really bad manager. Given this culture there is no point working to hard to prove yourself as no recognition is given except a pat on the back and higher expectations of you. The brush under the carpet culture is not good which includes accepting unacceptable behaviour and attitudes from certain staff.
