Pros

Christian childfocussed community based international ministryminded grassroots good relief rehabilitation. good for ministry minded people. I am a sponsored child of World Vision India.

Cons

Coporatism without professionalism and commitment. very poor advocacy, gains external knowledge without equipping internal staff, regionalism favored. ministry organizationchanging to corporate entity, perceptions more then principles. committment and competency are major hurdles to the staff at grass roots which results no impact on billion dollars spent. HR is the worst weakest department of WVI. It recruits all recomemded candidates who has no basic knowledge of the work they do and who do not have skills and competnecies. It is always in the defensive mode. Appointments are pre determined and as a rule, advertise. Staff appointed have no required qualifications as advertised, but recomemded. Promotions of the under performers. Tranfers for staff who has no area of interests. WVI is only at service delivery mode since ages with low or very minimal empowerment being working since ages. The National office and PMO staff enjoys to the fullest of benfits and restricts the grassroots with minimal benefits. Facebook account pictures of staff shows how luxurious they are enjoying the benefits with Sponsored Child's money. More that 50% of the budget goes for administration, but they report below 10%. The community receives less than 50%.A recent re-design and re-structuring of PMO and ADPs consumed huge budget only to benifit NO and PMO, but not the ADP where the actual work happens. Scores of requests have been madeto no avail. There are several vacancies falling because of the policies of the SMT. Someone dreams at NO, tomorrow you get a mail to implement whether it is applicaple or not. It is highly impossible to work according to the set priorities. with 10 of departments asking 100's of reports with no time limit with no consistent staff at the grassroots. Virtually, there are no staff for ages in North India. Advocay is at the poorest level and the NO has very little staff less than 10 for a vast country. The conflict between departments is ever growing and there is no coordination between them. "When two elephants fight, the grass beneath is destroyed." Many staff in WVI are working for survival. WVI recently spent huge amounts on IT which is a survical strategy of IT department which has hindered the work and it is still going to cost more. It is a wasteful investment. India is a country that has very good IT, but WVI has the poorest IT support. It is neither user friendly nor economical. Staff performing well in a particular field are often moved from dept. to dept and thus tampering the work. They dont want people to excell in particular field. I am very sorry to say "WVI staff are jack of all trades and master of none." There are no models yet even working for ages in India and the pretex is "we are a learning organization." The SMT never comes to meet a govt official or a politician and asks the grassroots to do advocacy efforts with them.
