Pros

The colleagues (Pandas) at WWF are some of the loveliest, most passionate people you will ever meet. The scope of work and scale of projects is great. In my experience there were a lot of opportunities to get involved in new and exciting pieces of work which stretched my capabilities.

Cons

Senior management is very corrupt. There is a HEAP of internal bureaucracy and politics which often happens behind closed doors. Senior leaders restructure the organisation frequently and often to protect the directors and other scenior leaders and the expence of those doing the day-to-day work. I personally know of a number of staff members who were forced out of jobs in ways which were close to - if not - constructive dismissal, and at least two instances where confidentiality around internal complaints and whistle blowing were broken, leading to colleagues quitting. During my time at WWF I witnessed at least one of the local office CEO have to leave quickly and quietly due to the beginings of a revolt within the office. In another instance a Global Executive Director was made to leave quickly after their working practices were made known within the organisation. Many people end up leaving due to poor leadership and management.

Pros

I worked for a long time as a consultant, lots of clients, lots of different companies, lots of personalties, lots of corporate climbing, etc. And eventually turned around one day and decided I wanted a mission I could care about, and a place that was culturally great. Those became my criteria, and WWF has been everything I've wanted. This place is filled with smart and passionate people, and I can go home every night feeling like I'm doing my part to help the world, which overrides much of the daily issues anyone faces in any job. The benefits are outstanding, there is great listening from most quarters of the organization, and the work means something.

Cons

It is a large organization, as such, there is bureaucracy, and a big ship moves slower than a small one. However, positive internal change does happen, and I believe the Senior Management Team wants this to be a great place, and works towards making that happen—it is the best organization I've ever worked for.
