Don't let them sell you the dream

Pros

You can be a raw graduate and find yourself in a management position with significant responsibility over running a branch in a short period of time (2years>) if you work hard. The company promotes only from within, so there's no worry about losing a promotion to someone from a competitor or outsourcing/downsizing.

Cons

Pretty much everything else. Mind numbing "work" - more like manual labor, washing cars, unmotivated/lazy/stupid colleagues/employees, terrible working conditions, pathetic compensation given the hours.

Pros

Pay is only decent. Managers and co-workers usually become your friends if your lucky to be at a good office. Managers are usually helpful on approving your time off requests. Stabilty is great for lower level management employees because they're the grunts who do all the work and usually never get layed off for that reason alone. Always hiring.

Cons

They say it "looks great on a resume" to work at Enterprise but I’m not really sure that’s really true. I began working with Enterprise right out of college like most. I was sold on the promise of fast career advancement, great pay, and an excellent management-training program. At the interview, you will be asked if your ok with occasionally assisting to get your rental cars ready for a customer, but then expected to wash every other car with a tie and a white long sleeve shirt on in the blistering summer heat, and with a mandatory college degree. Your will be promised plenty of overtime and a salary, then your hours will be max out at 40/week at only the hourly rate. So if you depended on the overtime pay to live a decent life, expect to pickup a lot extra hours at other offices, if your lucking to find any. You will learn much about running a retail office but expect to get a lot of sales job offers, if you’re looking to move on. The problem is, after working for the company you’ll very quickly get tired trying to up sell every customer on insurance products they don’t want and never want a sales job again. It is retail so you will have to be great with customers and expect to have many stressful customer interactions to dealt with. Managers usually become your friends and are good to work with but others can be too overbearing. You do not get paid any commission on your sales and absolutely do not get paid enough for the amount of work you put in. Stability is decent, but promotion is limited unless your will to relocate or drive far. Only high-level managers make a comfortable living. Always turning over employees.

Pros

Keeps you busy if you hate being at home and do not enjoy social activities.

Cons

After you gain a hard earned 4 year degree, they train you to do anything in high heels and an expensive suit including wash a car, inflate tires and run through the rain. Visiting questionable areas of your city to pick up questionable people whom you are alone in the car with for up to 45 minutes. Company does not seem to value intelligence, instead appearing to promote those with the most criminal versatility/sociopathic tendencies.
