Pros

I came to FDM with no technical background and a MA in Middle Eastern Studies. Having successfully completed my Software Test Analyst training I am awaiting security clearance for the Home Office! Everyone in my group got placed except for one person - note we all got placed whilst in training. 6 got placed with the Home Office, one with HSBC, two with AA and another two with YBS. We have just completed our training and only one person failed to get placed during the training period.

Cons

I would say that the the training is intense and not everyone is capable! I have witnessed one person get asked to leave after failing the UNIX exam three times. The best thing about FDM will be your colleagues, you will have to be there for one another to make it. One week to learn a new skill and pass an exam / complete a project makes this process challenging... but who doesn't like a challenge? Further, the training isn't incredible, to pass the exams and finish the projects first time round you should prepare on the weekend ( worked for me). If you are a highly motivated individual and have a strong work ethic then there is no reason why you wont do well with FDM. Just keep in mind that you are given three shots to pass an exam or project, if you fail your third attempt it's game over. Some FDMers obviously feel they are entitled to more but I think these fresh graduates are getting ahead of themselves, they were informed at the start about the contract and the rules. There are no surprises it's your fault if you the sign the contract but then decide the contract isn't for you.

Pros

I passed the numerical, aptitude and other test as well as the three interviews

Cons

Found SQL too difficult, didn't even attempt the end of week test Left before the third week would start so that I wouldn't have to pay any money to FDM

Poor experience overall

Pros

1. Great colleagues 2. Friendly trainers

Cons

1. Feels like school all over again with Academy Administrators insisting on filling in late and absence forms 2. No guarantee of placement upon completion of training/ Many trainees never see the light at the end of the tunnel 3. The business is geared towards client needs and will do whatever it takes to achieve this; even at the expense of leaving an already uncertain career path of many trainees in the hands of the Account Managers.
