Pros

There is a good opportunity for grads to work for big companies that they wouldn't be able to get into otherwise. If you are lucky...it can be a good career start.

Cons

Training is performed usually by ex trainees that had more knowledge, were not placed with a client..and VOILÁ! They become trainers (lol). Not all of them, but with some that's the case. Sales (account managers) treat you like crap (around 80% of them) - and I am saying this considering that I have a very high crap tollerance and I've always got along with them. For them you are just a puppet that must be sold to clients. Nothing more, nothing less. All the threaths about sueing that u've been reading about are true. Oh wait - all bad comments u read here are true :))) What makes me happy is to see that people are not blind! If you want to give it a try, make sure you know what you get urself into, pros and cons so you won't regret it later. Is a good choice...when you have no other choice!

FDM Group Response

Thank you for your comments. In response to some of your points I would like to mention that I only know of 2 trainers who were both trainees with FDM prior to becoming trainers themselves. This is out of circa 30 trainers in country. Both trainers joined FDM with great credentials, one in particular joined from an IT industry background. FDM has started the careers of over 5000 graduates over the past 8 years and I am delighted to say that a vast number of alumni have gone on to do great things. FDM continues to be voted the destination of choice by a vast number of students as listed in the 'Job Crowd' top companies to work for 2015/2016, with comments such as "Great way to kick start a career with job opportunities, training and experience that wouldn't be available anywhere else." Once again thanks for your comments and good luck in your career. I will take note of your comments and would like to wish you good luck in your career.

Pros

FDM provides relevant training for the work you'll be doing on site. I'm coming from a finance background and the material they use for IT training is very easy to understand and on point. The trainers are knowledgeable and take their time to make sure you understand the material.

Cons

If you have experience in your field and good understanding of different programming languages (such as Java, VBA, SQL), you are probably better off if you apply to the actual companies on your own.

Pros

It is easy to get into, though, considering the practices of the company I doubt this will help many jobless people.

Cons

STAY AWAY from this company. It sells dreams to 'consultants' it employs (that don't ever become realities) and acts as a recruitment agency with the intent of using you for their own profitable gain. The company is easy to get into as they want you to join their training scheme with the ability to blackmail you for the £20,000 cost of it if you decide to leave. You can't leave the company until 2 years of service - with or without them finding any work for you. You can be stuck without a job going into the FDM office (purely to avoid getting fined for the training). You have to wait 90 days to get a job before they let you free - they don't make leaving easy though. Training is substandard and not worth the cost. Get a masters instead, at least then you know there will be standards set and a fair course to join. Not a shady training scheme like this one.
