Pros

I literally cant think of any pros. Maybe if youre straight out of college its a good entry point, but even then youre better off working entry level software engineering job and move upward after year 1.

Cons

Low pay. Account manager do not care about you. You basically have to do their job for them and keep asking to get placed everyday. They also seem to play favorites too as others seem to go on several interviews for the same position/cohort. No transparency on your pay. Java developers gets the same amount of pay as every other stream. The work I was doing commanded 118k starting and I was barely getting 38k. Promises to reimburse my rent, never to be heard from again. They also tell you stories about how consultants will work at placement site full time after two years, but thats winning the lotto. Talked to several FDMers and only 1 person got full time status after 2 year contract with FDM.

Pros

- The training is pretty good, even though the technology they teach is outdated. - If you do a good enough job in the two years you've sold your soul to FDM. You can come out working for the client onside making considerably more money.

Cons

- The exact pay for your first year is $44,530. The second year is $49,530. - The benefits might as well be non existent - Once you go on site, that's it, you may as well not exist. No additional training, no employee investment, no ideas are taken into consideration. - If you look at FDM's 2018 financial statement, (all you have to do is google fdm-annual-report-2018, and scroll to page 37) you can tell how much FDM charges vs how little you get paid. - They pay minimum wage for training. They also will always tell you how lucky you are making 15 / hr because in the UK, they don't get paid for training. - If you're going for development, you're most likely going to get placed at a position. If you're anything else, it's gamble if you're even going to get a position. - If you get pulled offsite, in the interim, they will pay you $32,000 dollars a year (no matter if you're in the first or second year). - No incentive programs / opportunities to earn more. You're stuck with what you get.

Pros

- IT training - free coffee

Cons

I don't know where to start: - before starting we were told that we would get £100 a week during our initial training period to cover travel expenses. After starting the training , me along with the other trainees were surprised to find out that they do not actually pay anything! they would only pay if you show them travel receipts, and they would only pay you a maximum of £25 every two weeks ! - Prior to the start of the training programme, I was told that they work with clients from various sectors and that there are a lot of opportunities. The reality is that 80 % of their clients are in the financial sector and most of the placements last for a few months. At least that is how the situation was in the Academy where I was. - During the training you are expected to just follow what they tell you to do. If you struggle with something then you would need to rely on yourself or on fellow trainees -£20 000 has to be paid to them, if you decide to leave the programme before the end of your two year contract. They say that they would make exceptions if you have special circumstances, but at the same time they say that they would treat it "case by case". - Not all training paths that they said they offer were actually offered. Me and my colleges had to chose between two paths that were offered at that time. The way they work is based on client demand.
