Pros

You get to work at banks - But it doesn't matter because they have very strict non competition clauses so if the banks have no headcount to hire you in the first place, they will not have headcount to convert you as a permanent staff. And that's when their non competition clause comes in where you are not allowed to convert as a 'perm' hire under other agencies for the same position (more money for them).

Cons

- Strong white supremacy - HR is very weak and lazy - Claims to be an IT consultancy firm but places you anywhere, even totally unrelated fields like data entry, KYC. - You cannot say no to any placement because you have a bond penalty that is more than 29000USD if you break it before 2 years. - Senior Management is very incompetent - Most account managers do not care if the placement is not suitable for you, all they care about is earning their commission - Minimal benefits, unpaid medical leave in some countries - that's absurd.

Pros

had fun at the training academy

Cons

UNPAID Training is basic - not relevant to the job they put me in (which was actually not much to do with what I trained in). Also you teach yourself a lot of the stuff (definitely not worth £20k). You are trapped for two whole years - if you get a placement you do not enjoy/do not get trained in, you cannot ask for help because 1. they will not reply and 2. they could send you to some other random place in the UK. You have to take the placement you get offered, you get absolutely no choice in the matter. Seen someone try to refuse to go down to London and take a job offer he received in Edinburgh/Glasgow - flung out of the academy and I am sure he has to pay back 20k of training. (I have absolutely no idea where they get that figure from lol). False advertising - they go on and on and on about how you will get paid double your salary or at least 35k once you are kept on site - not even close in my case, yaay a waste of two years!!! They do not care about you AT ALL once you are on site. 20 month review - what 20 month review?? E-mailed HR several times to try and get my 20 month review and never once received a reply, despite being named as a 'mental health first aider' - as an anxious person this is an actual joke. They say that they have "equal pay" etc but ex forces get paid more than graduates. I do the exact same job and get paid less, makes you feel pretty worthless. Pay isn't good, especially compared to other people who have my degree. I honestly feel like they prey on people who are anxious/nervous about starting out and going to interviews etc and just use them for two years to line their own pockets. I really wish I never got the job with them as it has completely wasted the first two years of my career - thank you FDM.

Pros

I trained in the Austin office. FDM provides you with about 15 weeks of Training in the Java stream. The material is covered quick, but I never felt like I was falling behind. You get training that will prepare you for your role with a client. They cover a lot of topics that you might not use in your placement, but they offer specialized training if you need it like if you were placed in a c# role your training would switch to that. They prepare you for interviews and help you get placed in a role on site with big clients. Good way to get that first two years of experience.

Cons

You have to be geoflexible. You will be told to go on interviews and if they like you, they get you. So you might be moving to New York or San Francisco without your pay adjusting to cost of living in these areas. It can be daunting, but roommates help. The pay isn’t that great in general, but it really seems to be about getting that 2 years of experience under your belt.
