Pros

Paid well for a job that requires no past experience, work is mostly unsupervised unless they see you do somethingwrong, very good benefits for a part time job

Cons

hard work doesn't getyou promoted, being friends with the supers does, you'll get screwed when freight is slow (as few as 2-3 hours day ifyou're used to 6), only 2nd and 3rd shifts are available as a dockworker, hard to move up

Pros

I would say their Benefits are "ok" and they pay is satisfactory, could be better for the hard work they company should give raises based on performance.

Cons

The office managers/supervisors are very rude and do not know typical people skills! They yell and holler at their employees, the drivers are like little yo-yo to them. Management throws fits, screaming fits, it is terrible! But if there is a POLL coming up (the employees rate management) then the whole office does a complete turn around, and are so polite and considerate, it is so obvious to the drivers that a Poll must be around the corner! Not a good environment to work in! Then you are expected to load your trucks in the morning (if the loading dock gets behind) and on occasion you are expected to work the dock when you return (if the dock gets behind). The fuel pumps; everyone is expected to fuel their own truck (ok, no problem with that), but typically their is usually only one pump working. Truck Maintenance; they hire "maintenance workers" but none of them know how to work on a truck, I have seen a truck taken to a shop to repair a simple maintenance issue. All around the worse environment Management just cares about THEIR NUMBERS and not their employees!

Pros

Day shift, home daily, good pay, top rate is $24.50, decent 401k + small pension, 2 health options, one very expensive, one cheap but with very high deductible.

Cons

micro managed by people in an office on the other side of the country who have no idea about freight or routing, drivers are treated like expendable pieces of equipment, in the slow season, up to %20 of drivers told to stay home for lack of work. Quality of work doesn't matter, only seniority. Generally you are treated like a piece of meat to be used up and discarded at will. I've been here 6 years, doubt I'll make it to retirement. %10 of drivers out on comp at any time, blown back, knees etc. Equipment maintenance passable, lots of older tractors though, not as good as you might expect.
