Pros

Honestly cannot think of any pros. FedEx office as a company is alright. Just not the National Dispatch center

Cons

Horrible Tuition reimbursement. Management doesn't care about you. Will be over worked constantly. Stress levels are unbearable. Could be the most patient person in the world and still lose your patience with the people in this job.

Pros

75% off shipping services. Mileage is compensated. Uniforms are given.

Cons

I have worked in quite a few places, but, this job has poor training. Everything is lead by metrics, and not just because it is a shipping company with fast services. No matter what you do, it will never be enough, because management will hammer you with more metrics, more failures, more timed goals. Whether it be timed goals for placed orders, variances, customer reviewed surveys, to your overall profitability to the company by up-selling. The reviews are now quarterly, rather than yearly. No one ever receives a 5, so, the scoring is typically 1 out of 4. I worked well at my job, but, had extreme difficulty because my training was awful, and our store was inside of a Walmart, which wasn’t typically busy. You’re literally graded by a decimal system such as 2.17, or 2.52 grading system and so on. When the manager literally created an extremely hard work environment, for simple mistakes, management only listened to their side. Everything was to make the manager look better, and not the team. This included trying to use hours as leverage. Very spiteful, only cares about itself, and is quick to critique an individual. The “open” door policy only seems to apply to what better suits management, and not you. The hours are completely unstable. Granted, I was part time, but, many times I worked only 12 hours a week, when promised up to 25 hours a week. Hours were always cut first if you’re part time. Mileage is compensated, and you can work at other stores for more hours, but, it is never an absolute guarantee. Part timers only get benefits such as health care, after working there for a year. Full timers get access immediately. For this particular location, since there is such few staff; you have the responsibilities of a manager, w/o the pay. Other FedEx Locations are as stressful for different reasons. The Walmart locations (Such as this one.) don’t have the facilities to create such large banners, or items such as architecture prints, which is frustrating on a typical day, when customers place orders online and need it immediately. I liked most of my customers. But, I disliked not being able to have at least one weekend completely off, while the manager always got their weekends off, or, my schedule was inconsistent even with my days off. It pays alright, but, this job is rough. I left because of my hours, work environment, and because of a hungry manager. Training was very far away in White Plains.

Pros

Pay wasn’t terrible, at first. Met some nice people, and I’ve had good managers this far.

Cons

Huge, huge, HUGE disconnect between corporate and district managers and the reality in each store. It’s all about the bottom line - how can FXO retain as much profit as possible and entice more investors? Cut team member hours, prohibit overtime, and change its definition of full-time to 30 hours a week which you’ll accrue over the course of 5 days. There seems an unending supply of technologically illiterate customers whom expect you to not only help them make their unrealistic deadlines, but expect you to give them a crash course in how to properly navigate software on their device. I also can’t tell you how many times I get yelled at because FedEx doesn’t accept postage stamps as legal tender. The customers I can deal with, but what’s especially frustrating are all the changes they’re making within the company. They’re selling it to team members as “exciting” and “with you guys in mind” but that’s far from the truth. There’s little to no room for growth within this company.
