Pros

Many pros to working for fedex,.. many options to grow within the company itself,.. something you don't see very often anymore,.. you do start at the bottom,.. but so did everyone else who works here,.

Cons

Don't expect to work full time at the start,.. it won't happen,

Pros

Pay is $20.50 an hour IF you work shifts after 6pm ($19.50 if morning/daytime). You are pretty much accepted if you have a pulse (no drug test, they do a background but I think as long as you haven't stolen anything they let you work). Meaning you do NOT actually need to speak English. Pretty decent 401k matching program (dollar for dollar up to 6% and vested after a year). This is rarer and rarer to find in these days of no pension plans, paltry matches.

Cons

They do NOT let you bring your phone or headphones in (they will metal detector wand you when you leave and write you up/terminate you for it). The work is inconsistent, it is supposed to be 4 hour part time shifts but they will send you home after working just an hour with no regards to your gas/Uber cost. It can be very dangerous as you are handling freight that weighs up to 198 lbs. (the heaviest I have handled) and there are heavy weight plates that seem like innocent boxes that will land on your toe and fracture it if you are not very careful always. There are a few decent entry level supervisors that were doing the exact same job a few months to a year ago but there are some out-of-touch, overweight, no-people-skills-having "managers" (Tyler, Dave) with 5+ years there who ride around on little golf carts and yell at the floor supervisors to yell at the package handlers to "work FASTER!". Meanwhile, they do not even say hello or make eye contact with the main team of package handlers that ACTUALLY makes that building run...and there would be sweat dripping heart attacks suffered by many of them if they were put in the same trailers for even 5 minutes (maybe try walking instead of sitting around watching people in the control room or on a tugger cart, js).
