Pros

Tuition reimbursement, good insurance, onsite cafeteria, and clean bathrooms.

Cons

Favoritism abounds. Awards are raises often given to favorites vs. hard workers. Recently layoff proved that seniority and hard work do not count. Hard work not always rewarded/appreciated if you have the wrong manager.

Pros

FedEx is the best employer in the Memphis area among large companies. You can work as hard as you want to. The medical benefits are fair and unrivaled among companies in the area. The retirement programs are fair and effective if you use them. Fred Smith is a great leader.

Cons

I left after a 3 years when I found something better out of town. The Legal department runs the company and is so risk averse that FedEx is way behind the curve in delivering solutions for customers. The volatile prices of energy makes it difficult to plan project costs, and projects that are running great are frequently canceled because of cost reductions. If you are in Services, there are not enough titles and salary bands are too wide to count on regular promotions. IT's Directors and VPs are very weak leaders and there really isn't anyone among them that has a remarkable understanding of technology or business. There are not enough young people at FedEx to learn from and cultivate them into leaders. Memphis is an awful area to live and there's no talent to draw from it.
