Good pay for Management Great employees Fast paced Ability to run your own operation without much micro managing

Cons

-VERY POLITICAL! -An unGodly amount of rules that no one could ever remember -Lots of management in-fighting spurred on by Sr. Management -Sr. Management breaks all of the personnel rules (can't tell you how many times I was called an MF by upper Mgmt.) -"Gotcha" mentality for management and employees -Management forced to lie to employees -stupid amount of useless meetings -Obscene amount of hours worked -Tremendous favoritism

Pros

Strong reputation. Decent benefits package, but still lacking in areas, ok vacation package, company uniforms, a strong history of performance on Wall Street. They try hard to come across as a People company with the PSP Philosophy, yet its really just far more about profit. Excellent PT benefits Pension 401k A rewarding job where you meet a lot of great people. Physically and mentally demanding. Ability to transfer nationwide. Ability to move up corporate ladder, but its is not promoted or encouraged.

Cons

This is not the Federal Express we all grew to know and love back in the 70's/80's. Hourly employees are expendable and they openly remind you of it. You live and die FedEx (a slave for FedEx) difficult to impossible for family life, no schedule flexibility, station management does not follow corporate policy. Micromanaged to the Nth degree. No positive feedback/reinforcement from management. Hours are cut at the first sign of an economic slowdown. FedEx is it's own worst enemy. It's become too large and bureaucratic red tape makes getting anything done outside the advice of upper management or engineering impossible. GFT (guaranteed fair treatment policy) is fluff, mostly for PR to show that FedEx polices its own management, however, the process itself is run by HR, for the benefit of management. Days off can be a problem. Often times, vacation bids are done well over a year in advance with little chance of getting the time you want. Single days off at short notice - never, especially in the summer months. Wages are ok, but far under the competition at UPS for the same work. It used to be all about the customer, sadly that focus has shifted to profit. Many times packages sit in trucks because of productivity goals when they could/should be delivered as promised.
