Pros

the culture is great and fidelity has great learning opportunities for people who want to grow and learn in their position. the people are nice and the food is good at fidelity. i like my co-workers and they promote a team atmosphere. if you work hard you will make money but sometimes you have to be politically able to rise up in the company. the work life balance is good and you don't have to work overtime unless you want to. it is the type of job that when you leave the job and go home you don't have to think about anything. i like that.

Cons

sometimes the work can get routine. you get in this rut and you just process things for other people. the customers can be angry at times, especially in a downturn market. sometimes the clients can be annoying as well but that is just the way customer service goes. sometimes the bonus structure is very team oriented that if you are on a bad team then you can kiss a good bonus goodbye. if you are on a good team then i guess things would be better. sometimes meeting numbers can overtake doing quality work. the company is putting in place a lot of systems that check closely what each person is up to.

Pros

I definitely think working at Fidelity has been my best career decision. I have worked at other places and seen many different management styles and business models, and while everyone has its downfalls. Overall Fidelity does a great job of giving workers the opportunity to grow professionally as long as you are willing to work hard enough to take advantage of it. I think if you are not willing to work hard to get where you want to be than Fidelity might not be the best place to work. However, if you enjoy the opportunity to work hard and let your actions speak for themselves, as well as many different opportunities to keep you interested than Fidelity is the place to work.

Cons

When you first start you do work twice as hard and the pay isnt that great. I think the biggest downfall is that compensation isnt as competitive as other places.

Pros

Good employee investment plan (I've heard it changed since though..) Excellent intranet communications - including online training and other programs. Mature organization - policies and procedures are clear and well formed. Opportunities for reward and bonus are consistent. Strong. progressive corporate culture.

Cons

Politics over substance in some areas with occasionally over-managed resources. Review process seems more subjective than objective. From my perspective, Fidelity can be a great place to work if you get in the right group. Unfortunately, I joined a group that had a high turnover rate that began before I joined and continued after I left.
