Pros

Challenges. If you like to be challenged, there's many opportunities. Start a project, then half way through it 'poof' the people you were working with are gone, typically replaced by inexperienced Indian speaking low paid H1B candidates. Salary is ok, but don't expect too much in the way of a raise.

Cons

Executive Management is a revolving door. Fidelity is the place where 'executives' like to end their days getting highly paid to put their 'stamp' on the company. Almost like clockwork, every 5 years or so, executive management changes. Then the newest group of executives start their own slash & burn program to make the company more 'productive'. Once they've finished this wonderful task and decimated the various groups they declare victory, collect their huge bonuses, and turn things over to the next group of bean counters. Fidelity is coming apart at the seams because there are so many chiefs and so few indians left to any real work.

Pros

A strong sense of right and wrong and a very strong brand name. The past year or so has seen a lot of transition withing the company. Relocations and job eliminations are very nerve racking. However, my impression to date based on personal experience and talking with other colleagues, Fidelity tries to ensure a seamless transition.

Cons

As of the date of this submission, there are jobs being transfered to new locations. Relocation is not necessarilly a bad thing, but does cause anxiety.

Pros

Good benefits (profit sharing, 7% match for 401k)

Cons

Its an old, tired company that is way too top heavy. Particularly with senior managers who have been around for 10+ year and seem to be in "coast mode" and are out of touch. In my specific group there are twice as many managers as there are actual employees (developers, analysts, QA, etc.). This makes for a politically charged environment. Promotions are based on who you know and how long you've been around instead of how good you are. The opportunity to move up in the company by moving on to other groups within the company has recently been removed. You can still transfer, but it must be a lateral movement (ie: they won't pay you more for doing more, and any type of promotion is out of the question even though they'll expect you to do the work of people with a higher job title).
