Toxic and full of “mean girls”

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Salary was pretty fair based on my experience

Cons

This place is toxic. There are lots of forced smiles and just a very icy office environment. The “culture” is fake and forced. There are some talented people there but mostly it’s 95% ego and 5% talent. This place has the best “dog and pony show” parading around as a top design firm when behind the curtain it’s just a cold hard and heartless corporation. I’m surprised people still would want to work here after seeing all the negative reviews posted online. You can do better.

Collaborative Environment

Pros

Gensler Chicago is a highly collaborative environment, and a dynamic office in many ways - e.g. nothing comes out of a template, there is always something new to explore. People who are hybrids in their profession - that's the place to go. Helping each other is the DNA of Gesler, and there are talented people to learn from.

Cons

- It is a political firm. If you do not fit into the formula G has created for a successfull career, it is hard to be seen and to get promoted. Introverts have a stoney career path - a lot is dependant who you know. - Gensler is cheap when it comes to support beyond the office walls, e.g. if you visit a tradeshow, you would not get compensation, whether it is for a ticket or for some workhours, even if it would contribute for the better at work.
