Pros

Even though it is the largest architecture firm in the world, it manages to avoid some typical issues of the corporate world. It is successful at making the company feel like a smaller design firm at times. And the culture of the company is top notch for design firms.

Cons

Though it doesn't always feel extremely corporate, the inevitability of the size of the company is that some aspects will always be corporate (I.e., time sheets). This means you can often find yourself spending far more than 40 hours a week at the office but only 40 might be "billable".

The Best Design Firm!

Pros

After working at several design firms, I really feel this is the best of the larger firms to work at. Leadership is accessible, good compensation package including bonuses and paid time benefit (they actually pay for overtime work!), great culture & values established by the firm's founder, Art Gensler and an open & collaborative work environment.

Cons

Could be a frustrating environment for those that aren't taking ownership of their own career growth & interests - you really need to be vocal and entrepreneurial.

Pros

Amazing smart people that make a global network to find an expert for anything you could ever need; exposure to the most interesting projects in the world (literally); great place for juniors and principal level

Cons

Had taken a big turn towards a very corporate culture in recent years driven by target numbers for revenue, size and office locations. No longer the personal, employee friendly place driven by client needs that Art Gensler held up for decades. Little support for intermediate level staff that needs some work life balance while wanting to excel at their job. Pay below market. Benefits sound great, but come at the expense of a lower base salary.
