Pros

Your 5-person team experience does not necessarily reflect what GS is as a firm. if you don't like your team leave it as soon as possible before your managers turn on you and recommend you to be fired before it's too late.

Cons

Managers don't help you train you. You're left to your own devices to learn your function. If you don't do a good job it's your fault! Good luck not being mormon. If you're not you're silently ostracized. so much for a firm that focuses on diversity. GS stresses people to come up with innovative ideas but they use that as an elimination device to purge employees that do not fit with the culture or quietly acquiesce to the will of their senior managers.

The Long Term Effects of Layoffs

Pros

Educational assistance and obtaining liscenses. PTO is okay, if you ever get to use it. Great opportunity to train new employees with the high turnover.

Cons

After rounds of layoffs, Ayco's management team has failed to recognize how thinly spread they are leaving their unappreciated workers. It seems that every team is barely keeping it together. After years of going above and beyond without a significant pay increase, management will award you with a promotion that comes with a pay cut, literally. They are known for their pay cut when you go from hourly to salary.

Pros

Looks good to have Goldman Sachs on your resume. Exposure to High Net Worth Clients that you won't find anywhere else. They make sure you are educated before putting you in front of clients.

Cons

The job is basically Indentured Servitude. They expect you to work 60 - 70 hour weeks, but always find reasons to not promote you or skimp on your bonus. Pay is extremely top-heavy. Account managers make tons of $$$, everyone else gets scraps. The Chicago office is actually in Deerfield, IL and the commute is a nightmare.
