Pros

None till date at Goldman Sachs

Cons

If you wana work in a place where you are expected to keep your head down and work based on the process/policies and not expected to use your brains then you my dear have come to the right place. Goldman Sachs expects this and nothing else from you right from day one, even in case you have an idea you need approvals to get your idea discussed or displayed. For this approvals you need to be the best in licking boots and being the best books of your seniors not to forget talk with a American accent to sound posh. Apparently here the VP’s and above think they are doing a privilege by staying in India and working here. By default they have a superiority complex that is so high that even pizza is eaten with a folk and knife and anything apart from that makes u “desi” or uncultured. The campus recruitment team is one of the most confused lot and set in medieval mind set. They assume they are day 1 company by default in all IIT and IIM and their process to hire is set during the stone ages with paper and pen evaluation techniques and off course the interviewers gets an accent as soon as he starts with the first questions. The so called CLT team Campus Leadership Team is a bunch of boot lickers who have survived decades and continue to eat pizza with a folk and knife. Apparently cure fit food is a new mantra they need to eat and discuss how much weight they lost during lunch breaks. The CLT are the set of folks who call the shots in the team and expect all to dance on their tunes. Eg team dinner location is decided by these mighty humans cause they think their food habits are better than the rest !

Pros

The only pros I can think of is good pay and reputation of the company.

Cons

The biggest downside is the negative and toxic environment. I tried my best to make it work and ignore the fact that the people in the HR division (HCM) are extremely rude and miserable but at one point it just becomes unbearable and starts to affect one psychologically. It's not a healthy atmosphere to be in on a daily basis. The people especially in the HR division are in-genuine and hostile. They will make you feel unwelcome. The hostile environment does not make you motivated to work better, it makes you feel drained and down. I hope this is not the experience everyone gets here, but sadly GS is not what it used to be anymore. There is no buzz or excitement in people working here. On the opposite, the people are very negative, toxic, hostile and rude and not many want/can stand to be part of such a miserable office environment.

Pros

The only pro of working at this company is having the name on your resume when you leave.

Cons

This company will take your soul. This was the most gruesome 3 months I ever spent at any job I've ever had. The work was mundane & the pay wasn't worth how miserable I felt every morning. I dreamed of working at this company for years, but trust me when I say the name is not work the misery. Skip this place and work for a company that cares about giving you career opportunities and your personal skill development.
