Pros

The company name looks good on your resume. Met some good people there and I can't imagine why they continue on in such an environment. The must be masochistic.

Cons

Too many to list-honestly! The CS/CRS division is nothing more than a sweat shop managed by inept senior management whose primary concern is to save money at the expense of providing a good service for the company. If you get an offer to work in CS/CRS as a "contingent" worker, run as quickly as you can in the other direction! The worst culture/work environment I have ever experienced.

Pros

Good compensation, looks excellent on CV and business-school applications as a reputable "anchor" employer. Able to make some valuable connections at the peer level (but not with more senior employees).

Cons

Horrendous culture, upper management treats analysts and associates with limited respect, materialistic and judgmental employees, no company spirit beyond serving self interest and patting each other on the back about being at GS. Not to mention utterly pathetic HR department unable to resolve any office conflicts.

Pros

The people are fantastic; motivated, outgoing, and intelligent.

Cons

They treat contingent workers badly. Terrible hourly wage, 60 hours a week routinely, dull backoffice work, with little respect or mobility given to people in contingent positions. To give perspective, I left the FX ICON team to become VP of machine learning at a competitive firm, so experience or competency was not an issue.They are genuinely treated poorly.
