Pros

There is a great environment of meritocracy where everyone collaborates extensively. The caliber of people that work at Goldman is second to none. There is a noticeable difference in how efficiently things get done here compared to other firms. By being a part of the firm, you get a true understanding of why we are repeatedly the best on the Street. There are so many intangibles that set us apart and being a part of that is truly rewarding.

Cons

Longer hours is always a drawback but is to be expected in this industry.

Pros

Goldman Sachs is a good company to work for. One of the best features of working there is the good pay. The benefit package is also very good. It's a large organizations with opportunities all over the world. The company has weathered the credit crisis well so far which is a good sign for us as employees. The company tries to promote a worklife balance which is positive but the hours are long and sometimes it's hard to have a life outside of the office. There are a lot of smart people at Goldman which makes it a rewarding but also very competitive environment.

Cons

The environment is very competitive. Sometimes a little too competive. The hours are long. Some weeks it's hard to have a life outside of the office. Sometimes one does not get the credit one deserves when completing something. I guess this may be the case in many companies but at GS it seems like a lot of competitive people at the same workplace makes the environment more poltical then what may be the case at other investment banks. Overall a great company and I have a hard time filling up this space with negative feedback. The long hours are definitely one of the major down sides.

Pros

Opens doors all over Wall Street, work with bright people, potential to make a lot of money, ability to work with the industry's best, strong global name brand on the resume

Cons

The long hours, pressure, and a tense environment are the downsides; There's also a level of politics even at GS
