Pros

Decent starting salary for an analyst job. Managers act as mentors and most of them were technically strong. I was lucky to start with a good manager who helped me develop a lot of job specific skills.

Cons

Poor work life balance. Management is top-down (very hierarchical). You wait until the big-man in the room speaks and that is final. Sr. management plays favorite cards and they don't even have the courtesy to keep it behind the curtain. People managers are poorly skilled to do performance management. They just come in and justify/defend the ratings they have, they don't have any real specific actionable feedback. All I got after 6 mon was T should start taking notes, Check everything I get from others before I work with them to avoid me getting blamed, I didnt do anything game changing in my first few months!

Pros

Good and friendly environment to work in. HSBC is highly established bank throughout Hong Kong and many other international cities as well.

Cons

The hours are sometimes long and boring, it is usaully an 9-6 PM shift with a hour lunch break. Not really content of the work provided.
