Was an enjoyable entry level position meeting all sorts of people, some chatty and interesting and others less so.
Pros
Was only there for about 5 months before moving out of state but the atmosphere was always pleasant and a fun time. Like anywhere else, it all depends on the people that work with you. The GM when I started I never saw on my 3 day a week schedule (had a full time job so worked Friday evenings, Saturday evening and Sunday morning. New manager came in about a month later and he was more visible and interacting with employees as opposed to staying in the back office all day. He encouraged growth with the company and was more than eager to offer recommendations and to discuss how he had progressed. Definitely a nice job for a part time position to earn some extra money.
Cons
Evenings and nights tend to be less staffed to help with busy periods. Tried to have two desk agents at night through 11 but wasn't always the case so would be one person fielding front desk and running housekeeping requests (most guests were fairly understanding--always have those few people who are never happy with anything you can do). Pay does start out a little above minimum wage without any hotel experience but did get about a 50 cent raise after about 2-3 months.
