Pros

Very flexible from a WFH, working hours, etc perspective if you're on the right team/have a good boss; people are very nice and mostly high performers; employee hotel rates are pretty good

Cons

Benefits are pretty meh/borderline bad in terms of maternity leave, medical plan, time off is decent but isn't unlimited, bereavement leave is pitiful (only 5 days when my mother passed away, I was expected to use PTO or take unpaid leave for any "additional grief time"). There is also a lot of expectations in terms of drinking the Kool aid and believing you're there for a purpose that isn't just making a major corporation money. They don't pay great but aren't the worst, mat leave isn't the worst I've ever seen but isn't great, etc. But even with all that, they still think everyone should feel super privileged and lucky to be there, and are stunned beyond belief when someone would leave for more money, fully remote, unlimited PTO, etc

Pros

The travel benefits are amazing. Most managers are very kind. If you have any emergency or issue and need off they go the extra mile to help.

Cons

Let's start with the most important aspect of this position. Why we all work. The pay. After close to 10 years with this company, my teenage kids make more than I do. It's truly disgraceful. New employees are starting a few cents below what I make with years of knowledge , expertise and top tier metrics. It's so hurtful to see the prideful profit emails come out quarterly when I am unable to feed my family properly. We've all complained but they do not wish to hear it. We have been shown over and over again we are just a number and they do not care as far as our pay is concerned. Someone with my level of tenure should be in the $20 an hour range. Not even close! To make less than even $16 an hour after all these years is sad. Less important, the technical glitches are daily. The systems are just poor. Looking for another job and I'm not the only one. Very sad about that because this used to be an amazing company and I think most of us old timers stayed around so long hoping it would get better.

Pros

If you do not already have administrative experience, it is a good place to learn as you’re thrown in the deep end and pushed

Cons

Pay is awfully considering how much responsibility you have and how high stress the environment is. You’re also tasked with an unreasonable about of work to be completed per day (a checklist format) and if you cannot complete the impossible to complete checklist then you have to stay back (which is often in the middle of the night) to finish it without being paid for the additional hours you’re working. They also gaslight you and say you should not be expected to be paid because it’s your fault that you couldn’t complete it in time. They they guilt you and say you’re not looking out for your team members by passing the work you couldn’t finish on to them. This is also not whilst being on a salary but as a casual. They also don’t approve any leave in advance. They say they will “do their best to accommodate but there is no guarantee so you literally cannot boom holidays because there is a chance that you would be rostered on even if you took the dates off months prior. Being polite is also not good enough at the Hilton. There is a strict vocabulary you have to abide by that makes you sound like it is 1920. The women staff (me included) are hyper sexualised and you feel like you’re a servant to the rich public servants and other VIP’s that stay. The experience was genuinely horrible and gave me extreme amounts of anxiety every time I had to work.
