Pros

Broad scope and lot of energy. No one cares whether you accomplish anything or do nothing. Opportunity to travel.

Cons

Centrally controlled by headquarters. You are not really able to get anything done as you would be in an American company.

Pros

Its an eye opener. If you would like to learn how a large Chinese corporation works then you will learn a lot. I certainly learnt a lot. I travelled the world doing business for Huawei in Europe, Asia, Africa and the way Huawei does business is very different from Western companies. All in all a good learning experience for me.

Cons

Unless you are Chinese born national and willing to commit a 6-10 years to the company there is a glass ceiling for most non-chinese employees. The company is very hierarchical and has a very much a top down command and control structure. If you want to collaborate with your peers on a new idea or initiative you cant just discuss and get going with your peers - you have to go up through your chain of command and then down to your peers managers and then if they agree you can go ahead - that can take months by which time the business opportunity is dead.

Pros

The developers, interns and engineers at this company are highly skilled and a pleasure to work with

Cons

Here are significant issues everyone should be aware of! Firstly, the leadership team, particularly the team leads and managers, appears to lack both the technical expertise and managerial capabilities that are crucial for guiding projects and inspiring their teams effectively. Their roles seem to be more tenure and age-based rather than merit-based, which has led to a situation where they are not actively involved in the technical aspects of projects nor able to provide meaningful mentorship/support to their team members. Unfortunately, there are frequent instances where the accomplishments of team members were not adequately recognized, affecting the overall morale and job satisfaction. Additionally, the company mandates 5 days a week office attendance, which can be challenging due to the office's location in a remote suburban area middle of nowhere. This rule doesn’t extend to some senior staff and team leads, introducing a sense of double standard within the workplace. This policy, coupled with micromanagement and strict hierarchical approach has been overwhelming and brought noticeable lack of motivation among employees in this toxic workplace. It's also important to mention that the company's approach to diversity and inclusion seems to be limited, with a predominantly Chinese and Middle Eastern demographic, which might not align with everyone's expectations of a culturally diverse workplace.
