      IBM is a good place to work, but no longer a great one.

      Pros

      You will work with one many of the brightest, motivated, creative and loyal people that you will meet in your life. They offer a very complete benefits package. Many opportunities to work from home if that's important to you.

      Cons

      The large size presents many issues. The current matrix management model makes it difficult, if not impossible, to serve all managers. Most managers are responsible for large teams and frequently have lost touch with employees and work loads. Regardless of your contribution, be prepared to be evaluated to a matrix. IBM doesn't develop their employees.

      Pros

      Great Management translates into a admirable and likable workplace. This is exactly what IBM does. Some may say that the pay is not competitive but the rewards/recognitions and other perks you get more than compensate you for it. I would recommend anyone to work here if you get an oppurtunity. IBM is really great at promoting education and self-improvement which only enhances your portfolio of assets, giving you a cuttin edge in today's market.

      Cons

      Starting salary is on the lower end of each bracket but again the perks/benefits more than compensate you for it.

      Pros

      IBM is a large corporation and provides a great work life balance. 40% of workforce is nontraditional office or work at home. They are still hiring a few people in the US. IBM fosters innovation, its not just a corporate phrase. World wide opportunities. Its a company which there is a world of things to do and chances to make a difference. They pay me well. They pay high performers more than average due to bonuses. Anyone with above average IT skills will stand head and shoulders above most at IBM, so its easy to kick butt and stand out among the crowd.

      Cons

      Large Corporation which means much complexity in getting anything done. Lotus Notes and its ilk.
