Pros

Encourage technical knowledge. Good environment (if you're not proactive, probably is going to be difficult for you). Reinventing themselves, and adopting new open source technologies.

Cons

Still a big company, not agile enough... (they're trying).

Pros

Multicultural environment with friendly people in it, I barely met people I would have had negative opinion of (at least not in our region). Overall company culture is really good - every day respect of others is essential. Good company to start with. Good place for those who need to see, experience the friendly and respectful cultural attitude.

Cons

Too much effort to plant the Big Blue Family vision in to the heads of employees - family is one and only and work is "only" work. Employees should feel good, safe and professionally performing their best knowing that they can lean on the company in terms of guaranteeing their future - I did not feel that and saw too much so called "resource actions". Too much additional tasks to fulfill in a year, think40 / badges, honestly I barely met people who took that seriously and not because it is useless but because in this region it does not really gets you any further in your career. Most of the times you have to change department / position to get higher in ranking and get better compensation, it has a negative side as well because if you get too high no department will want you to employ due to higher ranking / compensation range. I have not seen attractive motivational assets during my career in IBM, bonuses are on the level of a joke, cafeteria is one of the lowest comparing to other companies.
