Pros

Intel overall has decent benefits but the perks haven't lived up to the top 100 companies to work for in the last few years. There is a reason for that. Medical benefits are good and you get a choice of plans that fits your specific needs. However, what you pay our of your paycheck is getting worse every year but that may be in most companies. Paid personal time and vacation/holidays are on par with the average large company. Stock Purchase Plan offered to employees and bonuses a few times a year. Retirement plans available. Career opportunities and growth are good depending on which field you are in.

Cons

Layoff's every few years due to corporate downsizing or group consolidation are a given. Under appreciated and no room for job growth if you are an admin. Work Life Balance only exists if you MAKE sure it does. Some managers will work their employees to death at Intel, so be careful. There is an expectation that you are available 24/7 via email/phone. Lack of communication and "large company disease" is prevelant here as in any large company. If you have a good manager, you are set, if you have a poor manager, watch out. Brutal "review" process on a yearly basis needs to be changed or eliminated all together.

Pros

the chance to work for a technology market leader, brand recognition, international travel opportunities, incredible internal resources.

Cons

very very political, your boss better love you or you will be the first to go. Who can suck up the best ends up staying there longer. There are major differences between "field sales" and working in the "factory" which is referred to as a "cesspool". Intel is a very "what have you done for me lately" place. Not even an "exceeds expectations" on your last Focal review will prevent you from being laid off. If you are in the wrong place, wrong division at the wrong time you can lose your job without any advance warning. But you can be an average or below average performing employee in the right division (cpu or silicon related) and can skate by for years under the radar.

Pros

It's great to work for a company on the leading edge of technology. Risk taking is rewarded even if the risk fails. Work/life balance is a priority and encouraged at all levels. Communication from all levels of management is excellent. It really is ok to question the decisions and motives of Sr. Management and we have open forums to do just that.

Cons

Although they say they encourage teamwork, the process for salary increases/stock is based on individual performance and managers compare us to our peers performance, which can be very subjective. Retirement benefits are nonexistant. If you're and engineer it's a great place to advance, if your not it's just a good place to work.
